Busy, Busy, Busy...

School has started once again, and I find myself with very little spare time on my hands. It was my intent to post a story on here that I wrote over the summer, but I didn't finish it in time. It will have to wait, until I finalize the ending. I hope to share short stories and poetry on here eventually, but calculating Laplace transforms and studying the Fourier Series, has distracted me for the time being. It is also my intent to share(since we're on math) with you, my fascination with pi, "e", and some of the imaginary numbers. I want to know why these numbers keep popping up all over the place, and not just in mathematics. These numbers have been linked to flowers, art, time, and many other things I hope to share with you. Now, I must finish my homework.

The ol' Ship and Boiler Question

A ship and its boiler have a combined age of 42 years. The ship is twice as old as the boiler was, when the ship was as old as the boiler is now. How old is the ship, how old is the boiler?(present day ages)

Danica McKellar

I can't say enough good things about Dancia McKellar. She now has two books out, in which she helps teenage girls with mathematics. The books concentrate on balancing education with the social atmosphere of middle school, and they really reach the students on a personal level. It warms my heart to see a celebrity do something like this, because too often they get attention for all the wrong reasons. They get in fights, they beat their wife(of a whole two months), they drink, they do drugs, they flash the papparizzi, get DUI's, the list goes on, and it's all bad stuff. Even worse, these are the poeple that the media druels over. Just turn on the news for a little while, it won't be long before you hear about a celebrity that's caught up in some sort of ridiculous behavior.

Way to go Danica, knowledge is power, and you're helping kids find it.

Getting a feel for blogging

Alright. What the hell’s up with girls and their over-tanning? Look, myself, I prefer a natural look but I’ll agree that a good tan is always a classic. I’m just a little confused about how the Quik-Trip hot dog look became popular. Am I alone hear? C’mon people.

Smokestacks

Look, we've all seen them. Some dumb redneck with got-dam smokestacks coming out of the bed. Smokestacks on a pickup. I'm going to start cutting these things off and shoving them through the winshield.
